Interview Liv Jagrell by mailer

Hi and thanks for taking some time to talk to us, we are the French webzine Aux Portes du Metal. So what can you tell us about your new album "Now and forever"? What is the meaning of this album?

There is no concept or theme on the album. We basically write songs about what pisses us off at the moment. Could be religious, political, the global business etc. So all songs have a different meaning.

What are your favorite songs on the album?

I have two favourites right now, first its "Chosen Few", I really love the melodies and the lyrics in that one, and the other one is "Hearts of Cold", that one we are playing live now and I just love singing that song!

Did you enjoy working in the studio?

I’m a live person, so I like playing live and being on a stage much more than working in a studio. Could be that I’m such a perfectionist and put too much pressure on myself sometimes, but I totally enjoy the mixing part, when you finally can sense the result.

What can you tell us about your influences? What inspires you to write/compose music?

We have a lot of influences. Our style is based on the 80´s heavy metal sound with bands like W.A.S.P, Warlock, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Accept. We always wanna top ourselves and make a new album that crushes the last one and it´s fun to evolve and take songs to a different level. Life itself is a good inspiration, maybe cliché but that is how it is.

Are you the one who writes the lyrics when the rest of the band composes the music? Or is it a whole band work?

It's Dave and Jimmy who do most of the work with the music and then we put it together in the rehearsal room. And it's also Dave who writes the lyrics, and as long as he likes doing that and writes lyrics that I can stand for, I let him do it, and I mean, he writes truly great lyrics!

Do you enjoy being the only girl of the band?

I would have to say its kind of both ways. I don’t think so much about it and yes I do enjoy it mostly, but sometimes of course I miss having girls around me. So whenever we go and tour with bands that also have girls I’m always very excited :-) I get kind of lonely being the only girl you know, but I am the type of person who enjoys walking around, by myself, and just enjoys new cities.

In 2011 you shared a Motörhead cover with Doro, what can you tell us about this experience? How was it to make the music video?

That was really great, Doro is fantastic and truly a role model for me. And she and her band are so nice to us whenever we meet them. We are so happy that she wanted to do this song with us! The video was shot first with us, and then with Doro over in the US, cuz she was on tour right then, so unfortunately we didn’t meet her during the making. Maybe in the future we'll do something together again, who knows!

Are you already thinking about your next album?

No we are not thinking about a next album at this point. We are 100% focused on this new one. As soon as we feel it´s time we´ll go back to the drawing board.

Will we see you on stage in any festival this summer?

Yes right now we are doing a lots of festivals here in Sweden, but unfortunately not in France. We'd love to hit up the festivals all around Europe for next year’s summer festivals.

Is there any tour being planned?

Nothing that is confirmed yet but we are working on getting out on the road as soon as possible. We love touring and playing live most of all, and hopefully we will get something for the release.

Will you come to France soon?

As far as I know now, we don’t have any dates planned, but we would love to! We played one time in Paris and had a lot of fun :-)

Is there any other new or any solo project from band members you want to talk about?

No one in the band has a solo project as of now, never really had either. We are focusing 100% on Sister Sin and that’s also what it takes right now to move forward and evolve.

Do you have something to say to the people who download your music illegally?

Fuck you!! Hahaha... no just kidding! Actually, it is what it is. I would love if everybody bought our albums instead of downloading them illegally. There is no way that that´s ever gonna happen, and it’s a pity for sure! But there is still a big amount of people who really want the real thing, especially metal fans. That’s one thing that makes metalfans the most dedicated group of fans on this planet!

And finally, do you want to say something special to our readers?

Hope that we can hit France really soon again, last time you guys showed us that France rocks!!
